7-Elevens and Kwik-e Marts - Reverse Brand Naming Campaign
So for the past month or so, the convenience retail chain 7-Eleven has been converted 11 stores in the United States into Kwik-E Marts, in anticipation of the new Simpson's movie getting released today. One of these coveted stores happens to be right across the street from my summer apartment here in Seattle, right across from the Seattle Space Needle.

Read all about it here, or locate a Kwik-E Mart near you here. Maybe you even get to talk to Apu! I thought this was interesting - Apu's surname Nahasapeemapetilon, is a morphonological blend of the name Pahasadee Napetilon, the full name of a schoolmate of Simpsons writer Jeff Martin.
Read what this WSJ article has to say about this backward marketing campaign or what CNN says about the response from 7-Eleven franchisees, a vast number of whom are Indian regarding the stereotypes.

Please tell me you walked in and asked for a Slurpee ...

I went to the Kwik-E Mart in Manhattan. Kind of disappointing. Most of the Simpsons-branded merchandise was gone. I got a can of Buzz soda just for the heck of it.
